SEA OF VICE
Like Icarus, in 1899 I flew in Victorian London above a rough sea of misery. Robbie Ross was a good friend who brought me into his elite circle. His relationship with Oscar Wilde had changed from Lover to True Friendship. We reclined in a small world of luxury compared to the lower class where a sea of opium, prostitution, and vice permeated the society. Victorian boarding schools were cesspits of delinquency. At Harrow, the young boys were given girl’s names to refer them as the senior boy’s “bitches”. I felt like I did not belong to this World, but it was fascinating to watch.
