HESSE, THE CREATOR OF THE LONE WANDERER
The genesis of the idea of the lone wanderer may have begun when Cain killed Able. The analogy is simple and straightforward, but it was not until Hermann Hesse wrote his most famous novels—- DEMIAN, STEPPENWOLF, SIDDHARTHA and THE GLASS BEAD GAME—- that the defining idea was firmly established to penetrate well into society. Even long after his death in 1962, his influence still defines the ways of the wonderer.
